Spilled Ink Reflections
I Love
I love when Ron Nearhood brings his son, Daniel, when Jim Loper brings his daughter,
Olivia, and when David Martin brings his daughter, Andie.
I love when Daniel Nearhood, Olivia Loper, and Andie Martin brave the microphone.
I love how John Cowgill faithfully takes our pictures and is so full of joy each month.
I love getting suggestions for lessons to use in my classroom just be listening
I love seeing “first timers” become “long timers” after braving the microphone
I love seeing the group from Poets’ Anonymous support each other.
I love seeing students brave the stage
I love the diversity of the people and the diversity of their writings/readings
I love the creativity each month
I love how Spilled Ink forces me to write something new each month
I love the honesty and the raw emotions bared and the support provided by all
I love how supportive we are; building people up instead of tearing down
I love Dan Verner’s Cat poems
I love it when Robert Scott’s rage makes Alice Mergler blush
I love Kathy Moya’s memes
I love seeing writers try other genres [Gail William’s memoirs]
I love Michael Sensale’s bow tie and his rapping
I love the support of my family which allows me to do this each month
I love coffeehouses [Grounds Central Station and Jirani Coffeehouse]
I love how opportunities have been created [Arts’ Alive & In the Company of
          Laureates]
I love when I need to use the dictionary while listening to Robert Scott, Cathy Hailey,
Kathy Smaltz, Keith Munroe, and Steve Konrad
I love seeing Belinda Miller braving the elements in her wheelchair
I love how Ruth Matthews travels all the way from Maryland to read her works
I love everyone who has every braved the microphone and those that support them
I love the fourth Friday of each month

SPILLED INK GOES INTERNATIONAL!

Dozens Gather for a Night of Literature in Manassas

The nameless seed
written by Corih Kim

I didn’t know your name
Even the moment We met
I didn’t ask for your address
I didn’t ask for family history
Comfortably, the moment we met
I thought of you as my friend
You are at the end of my fingertips
Was unreachable, unattainable
Titillating kind of an existence
Without a single green field for you to lie
As I couldn’t stay still
You and I, both of us are travelers
Our souls guided by Zephyr
I’m also nameless to you
You never asked me for my name…

Stirring the Ink

The PWC library system has asked us, the Poet Laureate Circle, to do a poetry workshop at each of the libraries during 2018. I believe there are 11 libraries in PWC. They will have an “open mic” at each event, and their hope would be that the participants could then share a piece at Spilled Ink.
